The Big Bell Temple is a bell museum (the largest one in China). Its former name is Juesheng Temple which was built in 1733 during the reign of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty (1644 -1911). The most famous Bell in the temple is Yongle giant Bell which was cast during the reign of Emperor Yongle of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). Yongle Bell has a height of 6.75 meter and a diameter of 3.3 meters. The bell is famous not only because of its size, but probably more importantly because of the over 230,000 characters of Buddhist scriptures engraved on it. There are of course many other bells on display which were casted in different times. In one word, you can't find a better museum to study the history of bells of China.
